Self love is the strongest and most impactful love there is. Loving yourself and who you are is often the key to success in outside personal relationships. That confidence that comes from pleasure in being who you are also inserts itself into other parts of life that no one ever thinks of. Most people define confidence as the way a person carries themself, the way a person dresses, the way a person actively pursues endeavors that will propel them towards what they wish to have in life. Confidence is what people aim for and want to have, but with confidence comes insecurity and low self esteem.
Self esteem is measured on a spectrum from low-high. Based on a 2003 study on the relationship between self esteem and mental health, low self-esteem is positively correlated to several different negative mental outcomes like depression and severe anxiety. As often stated, mental health and the things you do to aide it play an important part in your everyday life. Those feelings of insecurity then turn into negative thoughts and the thoughts spiral causing one's mental health to plummet.
Poor mental health stemming from low self esteem can cause different issues at the workplace such as being absent, less productive, etc. It is not only important to maintain an air of confidence for personal satisfaction, but also because the negative impacts of low self esteem have an extended reach to your friendships, relationships, and professional life.
Even though acknowledging the many ways low self-esteem can negatively impact a person's goals, it is essential to note that low self esteem may not be something that the person can solve right away or even know how it began.
All of that goes to say that knowing the distinction between your insecurities and the things that make you confident are important. When it comes to both, there are different types and ways to experience them. For example, insecurity is not always about how you look. There is financial insecurity, food insecurity, job insecurity, etc. While this is true, it can also be said that these different types can all lead up to how you feel about yourself at the end of the day.
Confidence is important, but insecurity and the causes are equally as important. If you don't let your insecurities get in the way of your dreams and goals then you're already more confident than you realize.
